In many ways what we used to call “the world wide web” offers a fiber-optic realization of a central metaphor in Mahayana Buddhism: the vision of Indra’s Net, of our complete and total interdependence - our unceasing mutuality. But in other ways our technologies distract, divert and distress. What is the wisdom of our embodiment in an age of terabytes and twitter? What special dharma gates does our 21st-century technology bring to our bodhisattva path?
