Grief and Love:
What Happens When Time Stops?
Head of Assembly, Myobun Freinkel Tishman

“The self is time” writes our 13th-century ancestor, Dogen Zenji, in his essay “Being-TIme.” As preamble to this Fall’s Dharma Seminar, Myobun will begin to explore the meaning of that phrase by examining those moments when our lives seem to be pierced all the way through - when time, itself, seems to stop: moments of falling in love, and those moments we experience great loss. What can grief and love teach us about the Buddha Way? (Spoiler alert: maybe “attachment” isn’t such a bad thing, after all….)
