Jizo Bodhisattva: From Drawing to Wood-Carving

Saturdays. March: 9, 16, 30; April: 13, 20, 27; May 11. 12:00pm - 2:00pm

In this course, students will explore the relationship between intuitive drawing and the process of hand-carving in wood. We will focus on the figure of Jizo Bodhisattva for our inspiration. Beginning with a series of drawings, students will then create a clay model, which will be the basis for the design of a wood carving. The workshop will included an overview of basic hand-tools, kinds of wood, and carving techniques. All skill levels are welcome, but this course may not be suitable for young children. All materials are included and this class is Free of charge. Class size is limited to 4 students!  Registration forms are available at buddhaeye.org and at the temple.
