Every Stitch in the World of Flames, Part 1
Sunday, February 8th
9:00am: Zazen
10:00am: Ceremonies
Led by Abbot Ejo McMullen and Shuso Jakuen de la Paz
In this 5-part series of talks, Shuso Jakuen will discuss a Koan known as "The 30th Case of Dong-Shan," which will form an important body of teaching for this 2026 Risshin Practice Term. Working with Koans is a unique and cherished tradition in the Zen School, and these records of the lives and interactions between our ancestors are energized by our own whole-hearted investigation of the Way. The Sangha's study of this Koan with the Shuso will culminate in the ceremony of Hossenshiki (Dharma Combat), in which the community will test the Shuso's knowledge and understanding of the Koan with vigor and zeal!
