Our founding teacher, Butsugen Joshin Daiosho, passed from this world 3 years ago this week. In the Soto Zen School we refer to the founder of a temple as the "The Opener of the Mountain". The spirit of their practice and the anchor of their vow guides the temple community continually. This Sunday, join Abbot Ejo McMullen for a discussion of Butsugen Roshi's spirited practice and profound vow followed by a short ceremony of gratitude for his great gift of the dharma.
