Shosan (Ritual of Public Question & Response)

January 20, 2024 Buddha Eye Temple

Sunday May 12
Zazen: 9:00am
Ceremony: 10:00am

In this ceremony, members of the assembly are invited to formally present questions to the teacher, who has taken on the role of direct representative of the Buddha. This is a robust and truly heartfelt ceremony, where the direct meeting of teacher and student reminds us of the raw and immediate heart of living a life in practice. This ceremony shows the intimate understanding of the teacher and the student, and is a great support for all those who attend, whether they stand-up to ask a question or not.
