Dharma Teacher Myobun Esther Tishman
In a week’s time, our community will pass through the Dharma gate of Shinzanshiki: the ceremony of “Ascending the Mountain” as we install our teacher, Ejo, as our temple’s first abbot. The imagery of mountains, and of temples as mountains, is central within our tradition - beginning perhaps, with the Buddha’s first assemblies on “sacred Vulture Peak.” But as Ejo has taught, the Mountain includes everything from its peaks to its valleys to its subterranean depths. Join Myobun this Sunday, as she explores this landscape of the awakening heart. Let’s traipse this mountainside together.
