Guatama left his home and journeyed to find true liberation. He discovered full liberation at the site of the Bodhi Tree, or Tree of Enlightenment, not so very far from where he had abandoned his previous life. How did he find his way? And why did it take so many years with the tree so close by? It was not a matter of knowing where to go and then simply working hard to get there. His journey was a search, and within the legend of his life there is a profound teaching on what it takes to make the journey to the pivotal tree ourselves.
