While the Soto School’s practice is often described as “just sitting”, it is a big mistake to think that by simply adhering to a technique, schedule, or physical form that we can enter the profound gate of Zazen. Authentic Zazen requires continual effort and attention with regards to body, breath, and mind without any force or control. It requires a clear intention to become more intimate with our being and to look through and beyond. Join this hands on ten-week course to deepen your encounter of the subtle gate of the Buddhas and Ancestors that we conventionally call “Zazen”. This course is appropriate for both experienced meditators and those new to practice. Focus will be placed on the immediate actuality of Zazen and how to bring our selves wholeheartedly to the path.
